Horrible! Nothing but horrible. The only reason I went to PWCs is because I was told by Tout-Terrain Cycles that I had to go through them to purchase a Panamericana. I made absolutely sure that Mr. White and his staff knew exactly, to the most minimal component, how I wanted the bike set up and PWC was unable to even assemble the bike, let alone perform any of the mods. I was over charged twice on what they considered to be a finished product, and had to wait for both refunds. When the bike was shipped it was missing multiple necessary parts, to include the CHAIN and Derailleur! I went to PWC in Jan 2015 to order the bike. I was told to expect the bike in May/June, it is a handmade frame that needs to be shipped from Germany after all. The bike has now been hanging on a "Good" bike shop wall for 6 weeks, still waiting parts so it can be assembled and ridden. Tout-Terrain will not back their product if sold outside of Germany apparently and do not back Mr. White or his work in any way. They direct you to him and then want nothing to do with the customer again. I contacted both owners and got NO help what so ever. I was told to deal with PWCs, apparently because even they didn't want to. The bike was not built to requested specifications, over charged my credit card twice (without my prior approval), never assembled the bike to test, Mr. White actually screamed at me on the phone when questioned as to why so many time delays and why he wasn't following my instructions. He is not qualified to even perform the work that is listed on the PWCs website, let alone proper bike mechanics. Once the box of parts arrived and a competent bike builder began the work, it was determined that even the wheels should be striped down and rebuilt, and that is suppose to be the one thing Mr. White Can still do properly. Apparently not. I would not use PWC for anything, even warranty work, EVEN if I lived next door. Go to a professional, find one that is a nice and honest person as most are.
I highly recommend dynamo hub lighting systems for their reliability and ease of use, and recommend Peter White Cycles for their quality consulting and wheel building.
Best wheel set I've ever ridden
I bought a dynamo hub wheel and lights (front and rear) from Peter White Cycles almost 4 years ago for my bike with disc brakes. I didn't really know what to get, so Peter spent at least 15 minutes on the phone with me to ensure I got the right setup for my bike, climate, riding style, body weight, etc.
In 2006 I purchased a fully assembled custom built Rivendell Atlantis from Peter White Cycles. The bike included a generator hub and custom built heavy duty wheels. Peter spoke with me on the telephone and went over all the components and gearing to make sure everything was correct. I had already spec'd the bike per the suggestions on his website from which I had learned a great deal. He shipped the bike fully assembled to California. I used the bike to commute daily 18 miles in LA for about 8 years, rain or shine. I must say I never had a moment's trouble with the bike, the wheels, or the lighting system. I still have that bike although I've gotten a bit fearful riding in heavy traffic. Peter White is a consummate professional and builds the best wheels in the world. I give his shop my highest recommendation.
I purchased a complete lighting (Son Hub, Busch-Muller lights, usb charging unit) from PWC in fall 2014. I had repeated wiring failures at the hub and called Peter to obtain some piggy-back spade connecters, an $.80 cent item. Before selling them to me Peter insisted we figure out why they were failing. Turns out I was soldering the connectors to the wires, thinking I was going the distance to make a solid connection, when I was actually creating a failure point. Peter took 20 minutes to sell me $4 worth of parts, because he wanted me to have a system that wouldn't fail. Outstanding service.
I've ridden 8,000+ commuting miles on this wheel, riding on rough pavement, over speed bumps, curb bumps, potholes, you name it. Everything has worked flawlessly and the wheel, astonishingly, is still 100% true without any spoke adjustments.
